Canon manufacturers a line of scanning devices that connect to your computer using USB cables. All Canon scanners are compatible with the Mac OS X operating system, but to start using one with your Apple desktop or laptop, download and install an updated driver file. Canon's website provides download links for each scanner model and each version of Mac OS X.

Turn off the Canon scanner and disconnect it from the Mac computer, if it's hooked up.

Open a Web browser and navigate to canontechsupport.com.

Click on the 'Support & Drivers' link in the upper right corner of the page.

Click 'Consumer & Home Office' from the Product Type list.
5.
Click 'Scanners' from the Product Family list and then click 'CanoScan' from the Product Series list.
6.
Click on the 'Drivers & Software' link next to the thumbnail of your scanner model.
7.
Open the 'Operating System' drop-down menu and click the version of Mac OS X that you're running on your computer.
8.
Click on the 'Download' button in the Drivers section of the page. Att aircard 881 drivers for macbook pro.

Double-click on the downloaded DMG file and then double-click on the PKG file that opens in a new window.
10.
Hit 'Continue' twice and then click the 'Install' button to add the Canon software to your Mac. Once the installation process finishes, plug one end of the USB cable into a USB port on the Mac and the other end into the scanner and turn it on.
